I feel obliged to write a post about something thats very womanly and a little bit disgusting but that needs to be addressed! This morning, after having a gorgeous but exhausting Christmas day eating my bodyweight in Matchmaker chocolates and Turkey roast dinner, I decided to treat myself to an indulgent bath to read a book. This relaxation plan was totally destroyed when i looked down and saw what could only be described as a couple of Cocker Spaniels resting comfortably on my legs “CRIPES” I thought, “Where the HECK did all that hair come from?! Have I honestly not waxed or shaved these little bad boys for so long that they now resemble PUPPIES??!!”

Here’s the thing, I wear tights all day, every day and only ever have a quick glance in the shower so I haven’t checked out my pins out properly in ages and they’re totally neglected! The colour resembles an off-white/yellow colour (Which i can only assume is old tan?!) and they’re covered in bruises and, of course, the  previously mentioned HAIR. My poor boyfriend! And there’s me thinking that when he clutched my legs in the middle of these cold, wintery nights that it was accidental or a new form of foreplay, now I realise he’s selfishly attempting to keep warm!

It just comes down to the winter months, and that’s who I’m blaming. As soon as June hits, I scrub, shave, wax & tan. I use cream after cream to make my legs softer than a baby’s bottom and then wear the minimum clothes i can get away with so I can show off the hour workout for Chezza Cole inspired legs. THEN, as soon as September hits, I cover up, dont wax/shave and could easily be mistaken for a Wilderbeast hiding out in the woods waiting to get some scram for tea.

Point I’m trying to make is, why do we feel the need to let ourselves go a little bit during the winter? Is it cause we feel there isn’t any need to bother if nobody but ourselves will be seeing it and we won’t be showing it off? If so, do we ever only preen ourselves so others can see our goodiesat their best? Have we forgotten who we should be preening ourselves for? Or is it simply a matter of wanting to feel snuggly in the winter months?

All i know is, after an embarrassed face and shaking my head at how badly i have let myself go, I quickly remembered Roy had gotten three razors for Christmas SO, now I stand, armed with a brand new Gillette (with matching wash bag and gel don’cha know!) and I’m ready to take on any challenge.

Now all I’m dreading is seeing what my armpits look like….

Hey everyone!

So.. I am officially back! I know I didn’t take an official “break” and send out the generic “Seeya im off!” post but I did break up with my blog. We weren’t getting along like we used too. I had no words left to say and i was finding it a chore to keep up with so, after a lot of thought and 6 beautiful months, we took a break.
Of course like with all breakups it felt tough but after a month, a holiday & several shy logs on, we are officially back together & online..

It has been a weird few months. Everything is great but I’ve felt totally uninspired. It’s frustrating because one of the things I love doing is writing but when you have no words left it just feels really blank.

So, to kick start my first October post, I’ll do what a few bloggers have been doing at the moment which is the ‘In & Out’ post!

IN:

1) My sparkly new iPhone! (which I am blogging from right now..clever!) and I have spent a fortune in the apps store on silly games I don’t need but I am LOVING IT!!

2) Freederm gel. I think my pill was sending the skin on my face crazy & it came out in a rash so my mum (of all people!) had some freederm in her drawer & let me borrow it and it is a miracle worker I swear! My skin is like a baby’s bottom..lovely!

3) Lightened hair: I know the winter months are usually full of lovely dark nails and chocolate brunettes but I haven’t been very creative with my hair in AGES so I decided to get a dye and lighten it and it really worked! Loving having a new look!

OUT:

1) Winter colds to come..note to self: flip flops don’t work in October, no matter how sunny..brrr!

2) Gym: I only signed up yesterday and I am already dreading the burn! Bottom is size of small county so it is nescessary! Why does good food act so naughty on your body?!

3) Broken camera!! In Greece my camera decided to break so we had to use disposeables! As my friends know and predicted I had a camera glued to my hands the whole time..even if it was 5 bright yellow Greek cameras!

And that’s it! I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been checking back and leaving comments, you guys rock! I promise if we ever take a break again I will leave with plenty of notice!

I bought a few No7 gifts for a blog competition a while ago and never got round to it but it will still be happening so look out for that soon!

Huge kisses!

 Afternoon ladies!

What do you think of today’s shoe? They’re actually more of a candy colour in person but i had to adjust the contrast a little because the sun was shining through the window and left a really bad glare and made them look too pale. I love them because they’re a) floral and b) SO 70’s with the chunky heel but still ladylike with the bow and peep toe..my favourite so far!

Last month Dawn Porter sent me, @gemmies_, @clareies & @Hunny_piesies a tweet on Twitter to say she was writing an article about Twitter friendships in Company Magazine and would we like to be in it. Needless to say, we all said YES straight away! How it all began was because on one of Dawn’s podcasties, her and Eileenies were quite drunkies and started putting ‘ies’ at the end of everyting. So, when they finished the podcast, they put both their Twitter names as @hotpatooties @eileenies. I’d been following Dawn for a while and so had the other three girls so we all changed our names to ‘ies’ on the end and so the Twitter ‘gang’ was created. We all then started talking more to Dawn and each other  (mainly about food, food and more food) and in all honesty, it feels like a gorgeous Twitter family over there – I love it! Also, we’ve had more people come and join in the fun too so the love just keeps on spreading! (@chatooties, @clarelouisies, @iam_shereesies & @kesstries)

Anyway, the magazine is out today (It’s only £2, go and buy it because it’s great and you also get a free mascara!) so i took a couple of photos of the article cause i love it but the quality isn’t amazing – sorryies!

I’m also going to do a video later too just to harp on about it even more. But then i promise i will shut up!

Anyway, i’ve got holiday bits to sort out!

Speak soon,

P.s, I feel i should quickly mention a few other girls who i also love following:  @dressjunkie, @ellacinderella & @zozeebo. These girls are so cute and lots of fun! They’re beauty bloggers too and definately know their stuff. Click their Twitter names to see their blogs!

Afternoon!

As you all know i love shoes, so for Christmas last year my best friend Harriet thought it would be quite apt to give me a present for my new desk at work. The gift was a ‘Shoe A Day’ calender that basically shows you a different shoe everyday and sits very nicely on said desk. (Yummy!) The shoes aren’t just modern ones either, there are so many different styles and eras everyday – i love it! I don’t know why i haven’t talked about it sooner but from now on everytime i blog, i’m going to use the shoe page as the header so you can see how weird and wonderful the shoes are and how varied they can be.

Obviously, as you can see above, not all shoes are particularly attractive but todays is quite funny because it obviously doesn’t know British weather at all. This morning when i turned it over i was like “Ha, finally a sandal when it’s sunny!” Shortly after those small words spoken, it rained – typical!

Me & my friends are going on a road trip early hours on Sunday and i am SO excited. There are 8 of us driving down to the South of France for a week so should be lots of fun and full of getting tanned and drunkies! I will do lots of videos and take photos too!

I won’t be logging on to the web for the whole week as i don’t have an iphone. I can, however, send tweets on Twitter but i can’t receive them and i can only receive direct messages so if were regular twitterers and your wondering why i’m being so vacant – that’s why! I’m going to try my best to get lots of blog treats up and running on here for when i’m away so it doesn’t go stale!

Emily has done 1 out of 4 of her little series from the Laden Showrooms event. That’s up and running in the new section ‘Events & Collections’ and then underneath that header is the blog. Or Click here for a shortcut!

So, that’s all i’ve got for today but look out for more exclusive Laden Showrooms stuff soonies and more blogging bits and peices! Woohoo!

Love,

Dawn Porter

For the past two nights my favorite celebrity & journalist Dawn Porter has been  back on our screens with a two part documentary called ‘My Breasts Could Kill Me’ which is a very emotional series about breast cancer. As her Mum died of cancer when she was only 34, Dawn embarks  on a very emotional journey of tests and scans to find out how vulnerable to cancer she is and whether she has the hereditary cancer gene. Along the way she meets some truly inspirational and amazing men & women who are either currently battling cancer or who have had it and fought their way through to the come out of it the other side.

I haven’t had any close experiences with loosing someone to cancer but the concept of cancer has occasionaly been on my mind. For me, my boobies have always made me feel sexy. I like the size, the shape and how womanly they make me feel but Dawn made such a good point in the show by saying she loves her’s too..but eventually they might be the things that kill her.

Dawnies has always been involved in interesting and captivating documentries and what i love about them is that she digs into subjects that get you thinking.  In many of them, the subjects have been about topics i probably wouldn’t have ever considered thinking about before, but when your watching them it makes you wonder why you hadn’t thought about them sooner and this current documentary is a classic example of that. Eventhough I knew cancer existed and have thought about it a little before, it’s never been something i knew much about. For example I never knew how it can start, that it could be hereditary, that it can be in healthy people as well as unhealthy people, that it doesn’t just strike smokers/drinkers and, probably most importantly of all, i didn’t ever consider that men too could get breast cancer too.

I truly admire all the people who took part in the documentary. They were all so brave and inspirational. There was one girl in particular, Kristin, who i felt i could relate to on an age level because she was only 23 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She told doctors 8 months prior to her diagnosis that she had a painful lump in her breast but they claimed it was hormonal. By the time they finally listened to her it was a 6x9cm tumour in her breast and had spread to her spine too. When this gorgeous girl was interviewed by Dawn her attitude towards cancer was really positive which, in-turn, was so empowering. She is determined to give cancer the biggest & best fight she can and really kick it in the balls and i couldn’t hope more that she does.

Dawnies really bares her soul and i admire her bravery and courage so much. She lets us into her very personal journey and emotional roller coaster and it made me adore her even more than i did before. She is an inspirational & amazing role model and a perfect example of “real” women. It’s a documentry that will definitely give your heart-strings a tug but it’s so worth watching. It gives you a better understanding of cancer but also a very personal insight to Dawns life and it makes you wish you were there to give her the biggest hug you can.

P.s: Kristin has an amazing campaign called  Coppafeel to teach people the importance of checking their breasts to determine early signs of breast cancer. It is an amazing project so make sure you head over to her site and check it out on the click able link above or the image below.

Hey guys before i rant on, here is my outfit today..

Sorry about the picture quality, my camera is good but i had nobody to take the photo for me so had to do the old mirror jobby!

Todays Outfit.

The dress is my new favourite thing. It’s from Primark and just so comfy for the summer. I love how the arms are batwinged too so it feels fitted but loose and airy at the same time! Its got an elasticated bit through the middle that can be put really high up, or quite low down, depending on your mood! The leggins are also Primark from a few months ago but i love them because they’ve got a cute little zip at the bottom which could look chavvy but i think with the right outfit, it looks cool? Maybe not? Anyway, the sandals are last year from Miss Selfridge, and my hair is just pulled together with a croc clip!

So, this week’s podcast is up and running. Click the little headphones in the side bar or the link below to go and check it out! Listening back i could just hear in my voice that i was a little tipsy so i need to lay off the red wine next week..silly sarahies..

I’ve had a day off work today so i’ve been baking some cupcakes! It’s Kate’s birthday party tomorrow so were going for sushi and then getting very very drunkies so i’ll no doubt get some videos or stupid photos uploaded afterwards..

If you follow me on Twitter then you have already heard that were teaming up with Corsets-UK to give away some prizes each week. They’re a company that sell some gorgeous corsets so check them out. Podcast #5

**I thought i’d posted a blog to say podcast # 6 was up but i didn’t so this is the link for that too! Podcast #6

Thursday 11th June 2009

Afternoon guys and gals! Ugh. What a miserable day! The weather has gone from making me sweat to making me soaked  in 0.5 seconds flat, lovely! And Roy isn’t in work with me today so it’s turning out to be a very boring day indeed…

I haven’t really been up to much lately apart from working and podcasting. It’s life consuming but i love it! I have also finally sent off my passport which is good news. I really want to escape to somewhere beautiful soon. (I will probably still tweet..I’m still addicted!)

I’m wearing  cute little bow elastic headband today but it’s right on my pressure points at the side of my head and it’s making my head throb! Due to the fact i’m SO lazy, i have’t washed my hair in AGES so the complete up do was necessary and now i’m paying the price with a headache – ouchies!

Vanessa Jackman Photography.

Vanessa Jackman Photography.

I love blog hunting because i love reading what other people have to say and I recently saw a blog that i’ve fallen in love with. I stumbled across a girl called Vanessa Jackman and her blog is all about her photography. Her photographic style is ‘Street’ and i just love it. Her pictures are beautiful and she manages to capture people in their greatest light. I love pictures when people look natural and she captures that ‘off-guard’ look really well. Because i was so impressed i emailed her but then i got a little worried that it might have freaked her out because i was a complete stranger who had stumbled across her blog and on a whim, decided i would email her. But to my surprise (and relief!)  she emailed straight back to say how happy she was that i had contacted her and that i had cheered her day up no end. I don’t think people say to each other enough if they like what they’re wearing or they enjoy what they’re doing. And we definately should because you don’t realise how much your words can affect someone’s mood and change their day! PLEASE go and check her out, she has some brilliant images. GO GO GO!

 Bargains, sales & freebies!

My gorgeous Twitter buddy @clareies told me about the Dorothy Perkins 3 day sale (started Wednesday 10th – Friday 12th) so i thought i’d pass it on. They’re currently giving customers 20% off EVERYTHING (even sale items!) and it’s a bloody good deal. I bought two dresses and a bracelet all for £64. Bargain! I’m searching for the perfect dress for Kate’s 21st Birthday next Saturday night and i’ve failed so far so hopefully one of these will fit!
